Marion County accident injures one

A Sunday afternoon accident in Marion County left a Monroe City man with minor injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the mishap occurred at 5:40 p.m. on Route U, five miles west of Palmyra.

A 2014 Kia Forte was being driven southbound by 21-year-old Grace E. Cook of Quincy, Ill., when it struck a deer in the roadway.

Injured was a passenger in the Kia, 36-year-old Matthew L. Carmean of Monroe City.

Carmean, who was wearing a safety device when the accident occurred, was taken by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.
