Council members also approve contract for city trash barrel collection work

Hannibal City Council members approved a joint project to remark and repair runway joints at the Hannibal Regional Airport during their regular meeting Tuesday, Dec. 5.

City officials will join with members of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for a $306,775 state block grant-funded project focused on new markings and joint repairs for Runway 17/35.

City council members also approved a resolution for a $24,000 contract with Simply Cut Lawns to remove waste from trash barrels.

The first reading of a bill was delivered that would result in the city vacating an alley near the Hannibal Jaycees' stage area to increase available space for future events.

Mayor James Hark delivered the oath of office to City Clerk Angelica Zerbonia.

Finance Director Karen Burditt discussed interest payments for 2010 Build America Bonds, 2013 Series “A” and 2016 Series Bonds. Council members approved the payments totaling $150,733.75.

Fire Chief Mike Benjamin announced the sale of the department's 2008 Dodge Durango to low bidder Scott Gollaher for $2,150.

City council members and city officials adjourned to a closed session to discuss potential litigation and real estate negotiations.
