Marion County collision injures both drivers

A Marion County collision near Palmyra at 1:57 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, sent both drivers to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported both vehicles were eastbound on state Highway 168 three miles west of Palmyra.

Officers said Isaac L. Swarnes, 21, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 and attempting to pass a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado driven by James W. Behring, 67, of Palmyra, when Behring was attempting to turn left.

After the collision the Swarnes vehicle went off the road and overturned. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt.

Swarnes suffered serious injuries and was flown to Blessing Hospital.

Behring had moderate injuries and went by ambulance to Blessing Hospital.
