Santa Claus helped kick off the Salvation Army kettle campaign in Pike County on Thanksgiving.

The North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is again coordinating volunteers for the fundraiser, which runs through Christmas.

People are needed to ring bells for a couple of hours at a time outside the Bowling Green Walmart. Day and evening hours are available, and the schedule is flexible.
This year's kettle campaign goal is $6,000, up from $5,000 in 2017. NECAC is signing up local groups, churches, businesses, clubs and individuals to ring bells. Eighty-five percent of the donations will stay in Pike County to help those in need.
More information is available by calling NECAC Pike County Service Coordinator Chandra Roberts at 573-324-2207.
