Bowling Green woman seriously injured in crash

An 18-year-old Bowling Green woman sustained serious injuries Tuesday night in a one-vehicle mishap in Pike County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened at 8:01 p.m., Oct. 23, on southbound Highway 161 at Pike County road 314.

A 1998 Ford Windstar was being driven southbound by Chani K. McKenzie of Bowling Green. The Ford reportedly traveled off the right side of the road. When the driver overcorrected the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road where it struck a road sign and overturned.

McKenzie, who was not wearing a safety device, was flown to University Hospital in Columbia.
