The Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society will host their fourth meeting of the year at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Fiddlestiks, 8945 Highway 36 in Hannibal.
The program will begin with Mary Lou Montgomery as guest speaker. Montgomery is an award-winning journalist, who retired in 2014 after 39 years with the Hannibal Courier-Post. She continues her research and writing as a contributing correspondent to the newspaper. She specializes in stories about ordinary people and those with historical relevance to Hannibal and beyond. She is the author if a historical biography, "The Notorious Madam Shaw."
From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., those in attendance will eat from the menu, and each person will be responsible to pay for their meal. At 12 p.m., Sharon Harrison, president with the Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society, will bring the business part of the meeting to order. Attendance prizes will be given at various times from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Northeast Genealogical Society serves 14 counties in Northeast Missouri and the quarterly meetings are scheduled at various locations to make it possible for the outlying members to attend. The society is dedicated to the collection of genealogy materials, both published and unpublished, for printing in the "Northeast Reporter." The 33-page quarterly is published each April, June, August and October.
