Hannibal FCCLA chapter members received second place in banner contest
Region 3 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) hosted their annual fall leadership meeting Tuesday, Oct. 9 in Moberly.
Regional officers have been working for several months to plan and execute the "FCCLA is the Magic in Me" program. Hannibal High School student Jessica Stinson led the meeting as the Region 3 president.
Approximately 500 members, advisors and guests attended from various chapters across the northeast Missouri area. Special guest was: Janet Smith from the Northeast Missouri Animal Shelter, and the very cute K-9, June. Region 3 chose the NEMO animal shelter as their Region 3 Service Project for 2018-2019. The shelter was chosen for their work with Puppies for Parole. In Puppies for Parole, selected offenders in Missouri prisons have the opportunity to become trainers to rescue dogs. Offenders teach dogs basic obedience skills and socialize them, making them more adoptable. Once the dogs have successfully completed the program, they are adopted through their original shelters.
The keynote entertainer was magician Mike Bliss.
The Hannibal FCCLA chapter was represented by Evie Rodenbaugh, Kaydence Stewart, Emma Martin, Jessica Stinson, Della Rodenbaugh, Abbey Ward, Victoria Bowen and adviser Linda Stinson. The chapter members received second place in the banner contest.
