Hannibal Arts Council to host Pumpkin Decorating/Painting Contest at Harvest Hootenanny

The Hannibal Arts Council's Pumpkin Decorating/Painting Contest will return to the 2018 Harvest Hootenanny on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Mark Twain Cave Hollow.

The Hannibal Arts Council (HAC) will sponsor a pumpkin decorating/painting activity during the Rotary Club of Hannibal’s Harvest Hootenanny Festival on Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Mark Twain Cave Complex.

The activity will be held on Saturday, September 22 between noon and 2:30 p.m. There is no fee to participate in the activity or the contest. For the contest portion of the event, participants can submit pre-decorated/painted pumpkins between noon and 2:30 p.m., or come to the pumpkin activity area and decorate/paint a pumpkin to submit to the contest, also between noon and 2:30 p.m. A limited number of pumpkins will be available. The activity and contest is for pumpkin decorating/painting only. No carved pumpkins are allowed.

Judging will take place at 2:45 p.m. There will be two age divisions: children fifth grade and under and children sixth grade and above. The top three winners in each age division will win prizes. CoolByke, LLC is donating a bike for one of the prizes.

A Mass of Christian burial with full military rites by Boots-Dickson American Legion No. 174 will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Palmyra. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2020, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
