Two months after work began on replacing the Bear Creek bridge at Withers Mill the project is reportedly nearing its home stretch.

Marion County’s newest bridge now under construction on County Road 423 at Withers Mill is looking more and more like a span that’s nearly done, according to Lyndon Bode, presiding commissioner.

“A lot of changes have occurred,” he said. “They have got the beams set. Anytime you see the beams going in that’s a good sign they’re getting close (to completion), but they still have got a little ways to go.

“I would say with the good weather (this week) they will be working on the deck area and the railings, too.”

Bode reports the project is “running on schedule.”

“With the way the winter has been they (Bross Construction) have done a lot of work,” said the commissioner. “I can’t give you an exact date for completion, but sometime this spring they will have it open.”
