James Keith remains housed in the Marion County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
James Keith, 53, of Philadelphia, Mo., the man accused of having deviate sexual intercourse with A.S., a child under the age of 14, is scheduled for jury trial on April 7 in Palmyra. The defendant is alleged to have committed these acts between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31, 2017.
Keith is charged with statutory sodomy.
According to a probable cause statement, the girl’s parents discovered messages from Keith on social media accounts and contacted law enforcement. Marion County Detectives contacted Keith at his home on Oct. 31 and took him in for questioning, when he allegedly confessed to the acts. Documents indicate Keith signed a mirandized statement.
Keith remains housed in the Marion County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
Keith is a convicted sex offender. If convicted on this charge, he faces a minimum of five years up to life imprisonment.
