A small house located near the intersection of St. John Street and Patchen Street was being brought down Thursday morning by the Hannibal Street Department.

The house was located on land that was acquired earlier this year by the Parks and Recreation Department.

The location will mark the area where a trail head will be established to mark the beginning point of the western section of the Bear Creek Trail.

The new trail section, which will border Bear Creek and the Sodalis Nature Preserve, will be linked to the current paved trail in Sodalis. With the help of grant funds the city has been "preliminarily awarded" the new section of trail will be paved.
