Police chief reminds Center residents of maintenance rules

Posted: Apr. 20, 2017 12:01 am

With spring now here and grass starting to grow again, Center Police Chief David Ray is reminding citizens in the Ralls County town about an ordinance relating to property maintenance.

According to city ordinance, "all owners of real property located within the City limits of Center shall maintain such property in such a way that tall and unsightly grass, weeds, or other vegetation shall be kept mowed."

Ray also reminds residents that lawns and property must be kept clear of debris and litter, including, but not limited to: garbage, paper, cardboard, wood, glass, bedding, auto parts, appliances, limbs, etc.

The property must be maintained between the curb in front of the house (or if no curb then from the edge of the pavement) to the middle of the alley (or the back of the property line if there is no alley).
