The Paris Friends of the Library plans to conduct its annual meeting on Thursday with a dinner, followed by a program.

Ross Malone will be the guest speaker for the annual meeting with the topic: "Missouri’s Forgotten Heroes"

Malone has taught in Missouri for more 30 years, has worked as a radio host, and published more than a dozen books about Missouri. His books have been featured in "Missouri Life Magazine," in the Good Books section. His Missouri history column "Back in the Day" is published weekly in newspapers across the state. Malone will share information about the Missourian Phelm O"Toole, who led the United States Marines to plant the flag at Iwo Jima, and who was a genius at rescuing people and other heroes.

"All the people in the Paris community and surrounding area are invited to the free Annual Meeting and will have an opportunity to win one of 3 books and/or a iPad Tablet. Membership to the Friends of the Library will be available," said Carol Schoonover, a board member.

Snacks will be provided at the annual meeting.

"This is an excellent time to support the Paris Library, which is a part of the Little Dixie Library System," Schoonover said. "The library has access to any book(s) you may want, computers that you can use for free, excellent children’s books and programs for kids, teen and adults. For a town the size of Paris, we are blessed to have this library and its wonderful staff working for us."

All are welcome to join in at the Paris Library basement at no charge.
