Hannibal Board of Public Works personnel have been busy this week installing new LED lights along Harrison Hill/Palmyra Road. The new lighting extends from U.S. 36 to U.S. 61.

“It is our lighting project for the fiscal year 2016-17,” said Heath Hall, director of operations at the BPW. “We are installing new LED lights and fixtures on just about every pole along Harrison Hill.

“Like all our LED conversion projects, the LED lights provide more light at a lower cost, and require less maintenance.”

Hall believes the new lighting will be appreciated.

“They (LEDs) have a lot more light coverage than the previous street lights,” he said. “I think the walkers/joggers that frequent that roadway will be pleased with the improvements.”

On a drive in to work one recent morning Hall said the difference in lighting was hard to miss.

“I could definitely see the additional light they provide. It was very noticeable,” he said.
