Illinois woman injured in two-car wreck

A Nebo, Ill., woman is recovering after sustaining minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place shortly before 4 p.m. On U.S. Highway 54 at Route NN in Pike County.

Alexandra Forbis, 23, was driving a 2006 Pontiac eastbound on U.S. 54 when a 2004 Lincoln driven by Martha Smith, 77, of Bowling Green traveled into the path of Forbis' vehicle.

Smith was driving on Route NN. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, she was stopped at a stop sign but failed to yield to Forbis. Forbis vehicle struck the driver's side of Smith's vehicle.

According to the online crash report, Forbis sustained moderate injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Smith did not sustain injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

Forbis was taken by ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital.
