Palmyra blanks Louisiana on one hit

A.J. O'Brien and Nolan Wosman combined to pitch a one-hit shutout for Palmyra in its 10-0 win over Louisiana Tuesday, May 10, in Palmyra.
O'Brien, who was the winning hurler, allowed a hit and walk in five innings of work. Wosman struck out the side in his lone inning on the mound.
The shutout, which came in Palmyra's final regular season game, was the team's second of the season. Its first, a 21-0 win over South Shelby, had come in its season opener on March 18.
Offensively, Logan Scholl led the Panthers Tuesday with a 3 for 3 performance, which included a double. He scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Wosman also accounted for two runs scored and two RBIs.
Palmyra took command early, plating eight runs in the first. Wosman delivered a two-run double in the inning while Scholl had a two-run single.
Palmyra's fifth straight win lifts the Panthers' overall record to 18-6.
Next up for the Panthers is the Class 3A District 7 tournament in Palmyra. PHS will play in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Monday, May 16, against the winner of the Saturday, May 14, Highland-Mark Twain game.
