A Hannibal man ‘just kind of snapped,’ and allegedly robbed the Veterans Road branch of the Ralls County State Bank (RCSBank) in August, captivating and worrying the community, with many thinking an armed and dangerous man was roaming their neighborhood.
A masked man with a hoodie entered the bank with a ski mask and a note demanding money and suggesting the presence of a gun. Although it is still unclear if the suspect had a weapon, a series of eyewitness accounts and area police work resulted in the arrest of Jacob T. Wilson, of Hannibal.
Nathan Wilson said that his brother’s daughters asked for lunch in a home with barely any food on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Nathan Wilson said his younger brother told him he planned to rob the bank, and he attempted to talk him out of the plan.
But instead of buying necessities, Wilson purchased stereo equipment after buying cash cards from the bag containing about $11,000. His criminal case will continue into 2016.
