“Another Show!” will be the title for the upcoming Monroe City Singers annual Spring Concert, which will be presented on April 27 and 30 in Monroe City and April 29 in Shelbina.

“Another Show!” will be the title for the upcoming Monroe City Singers annual Spring Concert, which will be presented on April 27 and 30 in Monroe City and April 29 in Shelbina.

The 60 member choir invites you to enjoy 11 a cappella and accompanied musical selections including selections from “West Side Story”, “Bridge Over Troubled Waters”, the jazz standard “Ain’t Misbehavin’”,  and show tunes “Another Op’nin Another Show” and “Rhythm of Life”.  Also included are spirituals “Do Lord Remember Me” and “Steal Away” and the popular Irish Air “Danny Boy”. The show will close with “Let There Be Peace on Earth”, “ Handel’s “Glory to God” and a powerful arrangement of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Also returning to the program is the MC Jazz Band, a 15 member group performing the Disney favorite, “Bare Necessities” and the classic Glenn Miller standard, “In the Mood.”

The Singers and Jazz Band are under the direction of Todd Richman and feature Marsha Crowley and Lana Anderson as accompanists.  Singers in the choir represent 14 area communities and have been rehearsing weekly since late January.

Performance dates and times are 7 p.m., Thursday, April 27, at the Monroe City Methodist Church (218 Catherine St.), 6 p.m., Saturday, April 29, at the Shelbina Christian Church (100 W. Spruce) and 4 p.m., Sunday, April 30, at the Monroe City United Methodist Church (218 Catherine St.).

There is no admission charge for the 75 minute concert, however donations will be accepted to offset expenses for music and the rehearsal venue.
