Marion County announces nine new COVID-19 cases

HANNIBAL | The Marion County Health Department reported nine new positive cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

The new cases include three males in the age 30 to 50 range and six females in the 20 to 60 range, who are all quarantining at home.

Marion County has had 148 positive cases since it started recording cases in March. There have been 85 recoveries, nine hospitalizations, two deaths and are currently 61 active cases.

Health officials report that tracing shows community transmission. If you test positive, please contact your local health department to confirm your phone number and address.

Marion County Health Department staff are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to determine if any close contacts of these individuals who may have been exposed. If there were any, health officials will provide guidance to these individuals and monitor them closely for the development of symptoms.

The Marion County Health Department urges the public to take appropriate precautions, which include good hygiene, social distancing, wearing a mask if you are unable to social distance and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your healthcare provider or urgent care center for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps to take.
