HANNIBAL | The Marion County Health Department reported 13 new cases of novel coronavirus on Monday.

The 13 new cases include seven males in the age range of 10 to 80, as well as six females in the age range of 20 to 90, who are all quarantining at home.

Marion County has had a total of 53 cases, eight current hospitalizations, six recoveries and zero deaths. There are currently 47 active cases in the county, which tracing has shown community transmission.

The Marion County Health Department staff are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to determine any close contacts of the individuals who may have been exposed. If there were any, health officials will provide guidance to these individuals and monitor them closely for the development of symptoms.

Health officials urge anyone who has tested positive to contact their local health departments to confirm their phone number and address.

The Marion County Health Department urges the public to take appropriate precautions, including good hygiene, social distancing, wearing a mask if you are unable to social distance and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever or cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your health care provider or urgent care center for guidance regarding symptoms and the next step to take.
