HANNIBAL | The Marion County Health Department announced its ninth positive COVID-19 test on Tuesday.

A male nursing home resident between age 80 and 90 was the positive case, and he is currently in isolation within the facility.

Marion County now has four active coronavirus cases with five recoveries, and zero deaths.

The Marion County Health Department staff are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to determine any close contacts of that individual who were possibly exposed. Health officials will provide guidance to these individuals and monitor them closely for the development of symptoms.

The Marion County Health Department urges the public to take appropriate precautions; such as good hygiene, social distancing and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your health care provider or urgent care center for guidance on what next steps to take.

For more information, visit the DHSS website at or the CDC website at A statewide COVID-19 hotline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 877-435-8411.
