Motorcycle rider suffers fatal injuries in collision

PALMYRA, MO. | Scott A. Herriman, 54, of Dallas City, Ill., died May 29 from injuries suffered in a car-motorcycle collision at 3:05 p.m. Friday, May 29, on Mo. 168 in Palmyra, Mo.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a westbound 2006 Pontiac G6 driven by Jacob L. Lewis, 29, of La Belle, Mo., crossed the center line while making a left turn.

Officers said Herriman was riding an eastbound 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle and while he was attempting to avoid the car, it overturned, ejecting him. He was then struck by the Pontiac.

Herriman was transported to the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo., where he was pronounced deceased at 4:52 p.m. by Dr. Milot Thaqi.

Lewis did not report injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Palmyra Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Department, Palmyra Fire Department and Marion County Ambulance District.
