HANNIBAL | Tuesday night's home finale was not the way the Hannibal boys basketball team wanted to end the regular season.

Mexico got off to a fast start and had an 52-28 lead by halftime. The Pirates would play better in the second half, but the Bulldogs would cruise to an 83-57 victory.

Pirates senior guard Tristen Terrill led the team in scoring with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Senior forward Adreke Brumbaugh and freshman forward Haden Robertson would both reach 10 points.

Bulldogs junior Raef Yager led his team in scoring with 30 points. Senior small forward Zach Watkins was second with 16 points.

Mexico capitalized on the free throw line, making 17 of 21 shots. By comparison, Hannibal only made nine out of 16 attempts from the free throw line.

Four Hannibal seniors were recognized prior to the game on Senior Night; Andrew Vaia, Preston Bennett, Brumbaugh and Charlie Hirner.

Up next – Hannibal will play Warrenton in the district quarterfinals on Monday at Mexico High School. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
