Firefighters request information about fire on Sierra

HANNIBAL | Arson investigators are asking for the public's help determine how a fire Nov. 27 in an unoccupied house at 1305 Sierra St. that was ruled incendiary.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the HFD at 573-221-0657 the Hannibal Police Department at 573-221-0987 or the Missouri state fire arson hotline at 1-800-39-ARSON.

The fire department provided the following details. A structure fire at 1305 Sierra was reported at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27. All stations responded, with eight firefighters at the scene. They found a fire with heavy smoke and flames showing.

The structure was an unoccupied, condemned property with no electric or gas supplied. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes with salvage and overhaul operations taking approximately one hour. Fire Investigators from Hannibal Fire Department and C.I.D. of Hannibal Police Department were called in to investigate and determine the origin and cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The HFD was assisted by HPD, Marion County Ambulance District, the Hannibal City Building Inspector's office and HFD chaplain from First Christian Church. The cause of the fire has been determined as incendiary.
