Monroe City truck driver injured when tire blows

PALMYRA, Mo. - Monte D. Cassidy, 65, of Monroe City, was taken by Marion County ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., for treatment of serious injuries suffered in an accident at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, on U.S. 61 three miles north of Palmyra.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Cassidy was driving a 2005 Freightliner truck tractor south when a left front drive tire blew. The truck went off the east side of the highway. Cassidy was not using a safety device.

Assisting at the scene were the Palmyra Fire Department and Marion County Sheriff's Department.
