Four-year-old Charlotte Griffith, left, and her two-year-old sister, Hallie, enjoy candy dropped during the Oct. 12 parade at the 41st annual Clarksville Applefest. The two-day event also included a baby show, crafts exhibits, art display and an apple pie contest. The Clarksville Community Chamber of Commerce organized the festivities. Charlotte and Hallie are the daughters of Wesley and Kristy Griffith of Clarksville. The girls' five-month-old brother, Ethan, will likely join them in collecting candy at next year's parade.

Palmyra holds on to defeat Centralia, advancing to district finals
PALMYRA, Mo. | The Palmyra boys basketball team will get another shot at Monroe City after winning the district semifinal game against Centralia on Thursday night.
Centralia gave everything they had and had an opportunity to tie it up, but senior guard Guy Moran's 3-point attempt hit the rim and bounced out. Palmyra junior guard Aaron Stamper was fouled after grabbing the rebound and drained to free throws to secure a 53-48 victory.
