Gary D. Stanton, 79, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 8:42 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.

Gary D. Stanton, 79, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 8:42 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.

Friends and family are invited to Gary's life celebration at a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Funeral services and burial will be at a later date at Montecito Cemetery in Colton, Calif.

Mr. Stanton was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Riverside, Calif., to Calvin Joseph and Della Mae Kilday Stanton.

He was first married to Donna Gipson in 1956. She survives.

He later married Judy Johnson Spittler on April 6, 1991, in Rialto, Calif. She also survives.

Other survivors include four children, Trudy Taylor (Steve), of Riverside, Calif.; Brenda Cole, of Rialto, Calif., Scott Stanton (Pam), of Nuevo, Calif., John Stanton of Idaho; stepson, Jerry DeHeer (Colette), of San Bernardino, Calif.; sister, Ruth Ann Jameson, of Riverside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Roy Green and Howard Stanton, and his granddaughter, April Anderson.

He was a sales manager at Pepsi, Co. Inc., where he retired in 1994.

He had a passion for the arts, and loved painting and music. He was fond of painting landscapes, people and birds. He was member of Hannibal Arts Council and a member of Toastmaskes.

He had a love for being on the water, as he liked sailing out of Newport Harbor and fishing with his family. He also took a trip and stayed on the French/East side of St. Martin with his wife while visiting the Caribbean.

Family and friends would say he was friendly and laid-back. He was curious, and he was loving and devoted to his family.
