Pike County Commissioners are getting repair estimates for the old jail.

Pike County Commissioners are getting repair estimates for the old jail.

The facility is on Church Street a block east of the Bowling Green square. It was built in 1884 and used until a new jail on Business Highway 54 opened in the mid-1990s. Repairs are needed to fix leaks and a furnace.

The Pike County Genealogical Society uses the structure, but the county says it still owns and maintains it.

Commissioners want to keep the cost under two thousand dollars. Estimates are expected back in one to two weeks.
