The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC), a 12-county area social service, community health and public housing Community Action Agency, is accepting candidate nominations to fill a board vacancy in Ralls County with a nominating deadline of Jan. 15.

Qualified residents are being invited to serve the remaining portion of a four-year term as a Civic Interest Representative (CIR) on the agency’s 36-member volunteer Board of Directors. The term will expire on Sept. 30, 2018.

The CIR candidate must be a resident of Ralls County and an active member of a local business, labor, civic, fraternal, social, educational or religious organization serving Ralls County. The organization must then nominate the candidate on a form provided by NECAC.

A Ralls County civic group or organization may also nominate one of its members directly by contacting NECAC Ralls County Service Coordinator LeAndra Bridgeman at 573-985-2411.

The election will be held on Jan. 26 by the NECAC Board of Directors, with installation and term of office beginning on March 22.

Nominations must be made on authorized forms that are available at the NECAC Ralls County Service Center located temporarily on the second floor of the Ralls County Courthouse in New London. A biographical questionnaire provided by NECAC must be completed or a personal resume will be required from all candidates.

The NECAC Board meets on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. during the months of January, March, May, July, September, October and November at the agency’s Central Administration Executive Office Building in Bowling Green. A complimentary meal is provided to board members before each meeting and a travel reimbursement of 51 cents per mile to and from each meeting is allowed. Meetings usually are completed by 9 p.m.

NECAC is one of 19 not-for-profit Community Action Agencies in Missouri and more than 1,000 across the United States. . The agency’s Central Administration Executive Office Building is located in Bowling Green, with NECAC Service Centers operated in each county.

Serving on the NECAC Board from Ralls County as the Public Elected Official is Presiding County Commissioner Wiley Hibbard of Perry, with Judith Statler of New London as the Low-Income Representative.
