Marion County residents now have another option to pay county recorder fees.

Marion County residents now have another option to pay county recorder fees. The Marion County Recorder of Deeds Office is pleased to announce that she is accepting credit and debit card payments for real estate fees and marriage licenses.

“I’m happy to offer this option for people doing business with the county,” said Harla Friesz, Marion County Recorder of Deeds. “More and more people use cards to pay for everything, and now they can use them here.”

Citizens using cards for payment will be charged a convenience fee by Central Bank in Jefferson City, for using the service. The convenience fee for a debit card is a flat fee of $3.75. Those using credit cards will pay a $2 minimum or 2.9% of the total payment.

“This solution allows my office to accept cards without using tax dollars to pay for the card processing,” Friesz said. “The convenience fees cover the processing costs and I receive my payment in full.”

The Marion County Recorder of Deed’s Office is working with Central Bank to process the card payments. Central Bank is the only Missouri-based card processing solution in the state and has been serving Missouri communities for more than 100 years.
