A Bowling Green man was seriously injured Thursday when the buggy he was driving was struck by a van in Pike County, Mo.

A Bowling Green man was seriously injured Thursday when the buggy he was driving was struck by a van in Pike County, Mo.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the collision happened at 3:45 p.m. on Highway V, west of County Road 452.

A horse-drawn buggy was being driven east on Highway V by Melvin N. Lee, 25, of Bowling Green. The accident report states that a 1998 GMC Safari, operated by 22-year-old Daniel E.
Payne of Wellsville, was being driven in a “careless and imprudent manor” when it struck the rear of the buggy.

Lee was flown to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
