Hannibal Board of Public Works personnel were working on a broken water service on Broadway Friday morning.

With the temperature in the mid 30s, Hannibal Board of Public Works personnel were at work in the downtown area on Friday morning.

The BPW was called out to work on a broken water service in front of a vacant store on the south side of the street in the 300 block of Broadway.

Reportedly the problem was found when someone attempted to turn the water off to the building.

In addition to the service truck at the scene, one of the BPW’s large vac trucks was also used to clear out the hole after it was dug.

The workers were not expecting to be there long. One of the men anticipated having the job wrapped up by 9:30 a.m.
