Hannibal Street Department personnel were working beneath the Third Street viaduct Friday morning on a drainage project.

Another project featuring one city of Hannibal department assisting another was in its home stretch Friday morning.

Workers with the Street Department were helping meet a need of the Parks and Recreation Department by installing drainage inlets beneath the Third Street viaduct.

According to Rich Dauma, director of the Street Department, the addition of the drainage intake pipes will help keep the nearby Admiral Coontz Recreation Center dry.

The pipes will also aid with drainage off the new parking lot that is located just east of the viaduct.

Although there had previously been a drainage intake in that area, it was found to be “dead.”
