A St. Louis author is progressing on a new biography of Bowling Green’s Champ Clark.

Retired college professor Geoffrey Morrison is writing an unwavering portrait of the man who came within an eyelash of winning the Democrat presidential nomination in 1912.

Morrison is completing a chapter about Clark’s election to Congress in 1892 and will then proceed to a chapter about legislative issues.

Morrison said Clark was one of the most innovative speakers in the House of Representatives and sacrificed his own power for the good of the nation.

Unlike the majority of earlier works, Morrison’s book will look at the bad along with the good. The author hopes to publish it in the next couple of years.

Champ Clark Honey Shuck Restoration Incorporated will host its annual banquet Thursday, Oct. 22 in Bowling Green.
