Concert pianist Mark Laverty will present a performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St.

Laverty will play selections by Bach and Chopin. The performance is $5 for the general public and free for members of the Hannibal Arts Council and Hannibal Concert Association. The performance is sponsored by Frank and Ann Miller, Ann Nagy, Wade Stables, PC and a touring grant from the Missouri Arts Council.

Laverty is an award-winning artist who has delighted audiences in the United States and Europe. He was born in St. Louis, and began playing the piano at the age of five. In 1989, he earned the Bachelor of Music Education Degree (Magna Cum Laude) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In 1993, Laverty completed his Master’s Degree in Piano and Chamber Music at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. In 2002, he completed the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Laverty remains in demand as an adjudicator, accompanist and master class teacher. He resides in Chesterfield Mo., and is the head of the Chesterfield Piano Studio.
