A 9-0 regular season has produced 10 first team North Central Missouri Conference All-Conference players for the Hannibal High School football team.

The first and second teams were announced today (Wednesday).

Of the 17 first-team offensive positions, seven went to Pirates.

Senior Jerry McBride was named All-Conference quarterback after leading his team to a 6-0 mark in the NCMC. Through his nine starts for Hannibal, McBride is second on the team with 930 rushing yards on 88 attempts (10.1 yards per carry), and second with 11 rushing touchdowns. McBride has also completed 16 of his 27 pass attempts for 408 yards and five touchdowns.

Hannibal junior running back Shamar Griffith was also named to the first-team offense, and could be an all-state selection before the year is over. Griffith has carried the football 173 times for 2,040 yards and 30 touchdowns. These numbers surpassed his 11-game output from 2014. Griffith is averaging 11.7 yards per attempt and 224.2 yards per contest.

Other first team selections for Hannibal include senior offensive linemen Dylan Powell, Chris Smith and Austin Hawes, senior tight end Devon Thomas and junior kicker Trevor Watson.

On the 15-player defensive team, Powell and Smith were selected to the defensive line. Junior Dalton Huffman, who leads the Pirates with 68 tackles, including 10 for a loss, was chosen as a linebacker.

McBride and Griffith were selected to the defensive backs, as were juniors Eric Jones and Will Sewell.

Several Pirates were picked for the NCMC All-Conference second teams as well.

On offense, Huffman and senior Harrison Vessell were selected as linemen. On defense, Thomas was picked as a linebacker. Thomas has 58 tackles this season, second behind Huffman.

After a 21-8 season and a 10-0 performance in the NCMC, the Hannibal volleyball team also enjoyed several all-conference selections.

Seniors Anna Murphy, Calen Bailey and Sydney Bennett were first-team choices on the seven-player squad, while seniors Lauren Wheelan and Alyssa Riefesel and sophomore Shelby Nelson earned spots on the second team.

Palmyra High School senior Haleigh Wosman was also selected to the Clarence Cannon Conference first team earlier this month. Wosman, who was also a first team all-district (12) and first team all-region choice, was a big contributor on the Lady Panther offense this fall.

Wosman batted .500 at the plate, with a .551 on-base percentage and a .576 slugging percentage. She had 33 hits, 11 runs batted in and scored 16 runs. She was also a perfect 15 for 15 on stolen base attempts.
