Hannibal Street Department employees closed one lane of Windmere Drive, as they worked on a “complete reconstruction” of the entire street Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Employees grated the road surface in preparation for milling work, keeping the west lane open for the neighborhood's residents. A milling machine will remove the surface of the other other lane, transforming it into base material that compacts better than gravel, Hannibal Street Department Superintendent Rich Dauma said.

On Thursday, employees planned to lay asphalt over the new base. Next, the other lane would receive the same reconstruction process. The entire project is expected to be completed by Friday, Dauma said.
