A Bowling Green man has been sentenced to four months in a treatment program after what authorities say was a fight over a bottle of vodka.

Thirty-seven-year-old Stephen Sheppard pleaded guilty to felony assault. Two other charges were dismissed.

Authorities reported the defendant and another man were fighting over a bottle of vodka at a home on Champ Clark Drive on July 21. Sheppard threatened the man with a knife.

If Sheppard successfully completes the treatment program, he will be put on probation. However, a violation could land him a six-year prison sentence.
