Hannibal firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Country Club Drive Monday morning on the report of smoke in the area.

The Hannibal Fire Department’s new truck was in service Monday morning. It was used to respond to the report of smoke in a residential area.

At approximately 10:40 a.m. Marion County 911 was advised that black smoke was visible in the area of 1200 Country Club Drive. The caller stated that after a few minutes the smoke had turned gray.

Responding firefighters reported finding a small brush fire.

At the scene firefighters advised that maintenance personnel at the Hannibal Country Club were cleaning up debris on the property and were in the process of burning it. The firefighters stressed that the fire was legal as only outdoor waste was being burned and other guidelines were being met.
