A statewide organization of municipal utilities has presented the Hannibal Board of Public Works its 2015 System Achievement Award. The award, presented by the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA), is given in recognition of a member utility providing exceptional quality of improvements in service to its customers.

“The Hannibal Board of Public Works recent achievements have been widely recognized by other municipal utilities statewide,” said Duncan Kincheloe, CEO of the Missouri Public Utility Alliance.

In recent years the HBPW has dedicated extensive work and capital expenditure for improvements to its electric infrastructure. Its improvement projects include a program of installing mid-span reclosers, and converting overhead electric lines to underground service focusing on areas difficult to maintain, such as areas with dense trees and foliage.

These and other projects have helped HBPW achieve an average service availability index (ASAI) of 99.99 percent. HBPW has maintained this outstanding ASAI percentage for the past 14 months by working to cut down on each outage response time.

MPUA’s annual awards recognize achievement and distinction among Missouri’s municipal utilities.
