A Quincy, Ill., man is being held on assault charges following an incident at a Hannibal convenience store.

At 9:03 a.m. Tuesday, Hannibal Police Officers responded to Abel’s Quick Shop at 1201 Broadway if reference to a male who had threatened an employee with a weapon.

The female clerk gave police a vehicle description with an Illinois license plate. The information, broadcast to local law enforcement agencies, led to the arrest of Duong Duy Tran, 41.

Officers in Pike County, Illinois located Tran’s vehicle, which matched the description given by the clerk. Officers took Tran into custoday.

He is being held on charges from Hannibal for second degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
