Ernst Wilhelm Edstrohm, Jr., 66, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Ernst Wilhelm Edstrohm, Jr., 66, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. 

Burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Edstrohm, Jr. was born Dec. 6, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., to Ernst Wilhelm and Kathleen A. Barton Edstrohm.

He was married to Brenda Brinkley on Aug. 17, 1974, in Hannibal, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Melissa Husain (Ali) of Columbia, Mo., Catherine Lopez of Hannibal, Mo., Yvonne Deavers (Mike Lee) of Hannibal, Mo., Christina Freeman of Hannibal, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jasmine, Michelle, Joseph, Mikey Lee, Dakota McCloud, Robert “Drew” Freeman and Abigail Freeman; one sister, Pam Nail (Larry) of Warrensburg, Mo.; one brother, Michael Edstrohm (Mary) of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Edstrohm was a graduate of Normandy High School, Class of 1966, in St. Louis, Mo. He was a United States Army Veteran. He guarded the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and was a member of the “Old Guard.” Ernst previously worked at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace and later at American Cyanamid/BASF for 36 1/2 years, before retiring in 2008. He loved bowling, being outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Mr. Edstrohm was a Baptist by faith and previously attended Hannibal Freewill Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pal Bowl Youth Bowling Fund, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Elliott, Jessie Shockley, Jim Tallman, Dennis Keesey, Andy Reeves and Lewis Brinkley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Darnell, Justin Ray, Robbie Leeders and David Brinkley.
