The American Red Cross announced Sunday, June 28, it has opened two shelters to assist flood victims in the area of Taylor and Palmyra, Mo.

The American Red Cross announced Sunday, June 28, it has opened two shelters to assist flood victims in the area of Taylor and Palmyra, Mo.

The shelters are at Palmyra Middle School, 600 West Line St., Palmyra; and Quincy Senior Center, 639 York St., Quincy, Ill. The shelters provide a safe place to stay, and Red Cross shelter volunteers are providing food, bottled water and comfort to those who have been displaced from their homes.

As flooding continues to be a problem throughout Eastern Missouri and Central Illinois, both shelters will remain open as long as needed.
