On June 16 and 18, summer school students, Pre-K through 8th grades, were treated to field trips by Ralls County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Students visited the Mark Twain Boudreaux Visitors Center.

Ralls County R-II students gained knowledge about fire safety and how to manage fire when camping or burning their property, the care and handling of snakes and waterfowl stop over areas on Mark Twain Lake during migration, and the need for lifejackets and materials to aid someone in trouble while in water.

Ralls SWCD assist with the field trips, but not without the help from area people and businesses.

Each year several businesses and organizations donate a wide variety of small educational items and usable materials that are received by each student. General Mills, Ruba’s, Hickman IGA, and Ralls County Bureau provided food for snacks. Other sponsors were: Lake Farms, Poet, Ralls County Electric Cooperative, Steve Lewton Insurance, Center Locker Service, Casey’s General Store, Perry Farm Service, C & L Tiling and Abel Oil Company.
