H. Willis Hanlin, 94, of the Woodland community, passed away 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Luther Manor Nursing Center.
H. Willis Hanlin, 94, of the Woodland community, passed away 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Luther Manor Nursing Center. He was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Clarence, Mo., to Millard H. and Betty M. Mitts Hanlin. Willis married Nadine Loft Nov. 16, 1940, in Clarence, Mo. She preceded him in death Jan. 11, 2004.
He is survived by children; Lee ( Vicky) Hanlin of Monroe City, Mo.; Cynthia Kruse of West Ely, Mo.; Carol ( Dr. Joe) Forney of Little Rock, Ark.; Cathy (George) Barnard of Batavia, Ill.; Tim (Cecelia) Hanlin of Monroe City, Mo.; sisters: Dorothy Bushey of St. Louis, Mo.; Ruth Janssen of Dekalb, Ill.; daughter-in-law; Mary Floyd of West Ely, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bryan A. Hanlin, a grandson, three brothers and one sister.
Willis had been a foreman at Schulte Red Line in Palmyra, and drove cement mixers for L.W. Riney and Bleigh Ready Mix. He enjoyed fishing and anything agriculture related. He was an active member of Providence Baptist Church in Withers Mill. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and held several other positions over the years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Providence Baptist Church in Withers Mill. Rev. Bob Craig and Rev. Chris Combs will officiate. Interment will be in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7p.m. Friday at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church or Luther Manor Nursing Center.
Casket Bearers are grandsons; Allen Hanlin, Greg Hanlin, Tony Hanlin, Sam Hanlin, John Kruse, Joey Forney, and Alex Barnard.
Honorary Bearers are granddaughters; Robin Carlson, Julie Leach, Molly Ramstad, Heidi Darling, Melissa Faubel, Kristen Barnard, Lauren Barnard, and Amanda Huber.
