The Hannibal Courier-Post has learned that the two city flood gates installed earlier this month will be removed Thursday morning. The removal process is scheduled to begin around 8 a.m.


The Hannibal Courier-Post has learned that the two city flood gates installed earlier this month will be removed Thursday morning. The removal process is scheduled to begin around 8 a.m.
The gates at Hill and Center streets were installed March 15 after a flood crest of 20.7 feet was forecast by the National Weather Service.
The Mississippi River is expected to continue falling into next week, dropping below 18 feet over the weekend.
