Hannibal police arrested a man after a domestic disturbance over the weekend.
The incident happened at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Hope Street. Police say they responded to a call of a domestic disturbance and found a man holding onto the passenger side of a car with the door open.
An investigation revealed the argument apparently began in the house over the punishment of a child. The man became angry and allegedly forced the 33-year-old women and her children to leave after assaulting them.
As the woman tried to leave in a car, the man allegedly tried to remove the battery. When he was unable to get it out, the woman locked herself and her children in the car. Police said she eventually started to drive away with the man hanging on to the side of the car.
The woman and her children, ages 15, 12 and 11, were not seriously injured and did not require medical treatment.
Arrested for three counts of domestic assault, felonious restraint, two counts of resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and riding on the outside of a motor vehicle was 42-year-old Michael C. Sarvich. He was put in the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
