Authorities say a man killed his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself early Monday near Troy.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Rafe Wagner and 20-year-old Kimberly Smith. Friends of Smith found the bodies in the foyer of Wagner’s home in the 200 block of Autumn Oaks Drive in the Ashley Estates subdivision shortly after midnight.
Relatives called authorities. Each victim died of a single gunshot wound to the head, said Lincoln County Coroner Bob Shramek. They had been dead at least 36 hours when they were found, he said.
A sheriff’s department spokesman said the last time anyone spoke to the couple was about 3 a.m. Saturday. When the woman did not return home by Sunday, friends and family began to look for her.
   The investigation continued Monday.
