Kelsi Brooke Thornton and Jeffery David Pio were united in marriage on Oct. 24, 2009. The ceremony was held at the Hannibal First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Burkey and Rev. James Thornton, grandfather of the bride, officiating. Following the ceremony the bride and groom hosted a barbeque reception and dance.
Kelsi is the daughter of Dr. James and Sandra Thornton, Hannibal. Jeff is the son of Rex and Sue Pio of Edgerton, Kan.
Brittany Thornton, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Courtney Hoedl, cousin of the bride, and Melissa Emerson, friend of the bride. Lighting of the memory candle was by Julie Frank, sister of the groom. Flower girls were Brileigh Hoedl, cousin of the bride, and Rachel Pio, niece of the groom.
Jason Pio, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Nick Wakefield, and Matthew Wyckoff, friends of the groom. Ushers were Tom Frank, Brian Hoedl, Kevin Hecht and Brandon Coffey.
Vocalist was Sarah Boleach. Other musicians were Brooke Dye, pianist, and Jonathan Porter, guitarist. The guest book was attended by Kelly Ediger and Julie Frank. Other assistants included Lindsay Barnard, Leslie Beck, Brad Jonker and Lisa Pio.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner on Friday, Oct. 23, at the home and barn of Jim and Sandy Thornton.
Kelsi is a 2002 graduate of Hannibal High School and 2006 graduate of Mid-America Nazarene University, with a B.A. degree in organizational leadership. She is employed by KansasBio Lenexa, Kan., as an office manager. Jeff is a 2004 graduate of Gardner-Edgerton High School in Gardner, Kan., and a 2008 graduate of Kansas State University, with a B.A. degree in agricultural business. He is employed by Farms Technology L.L.C. in Overland Park, Kan., as a commodities operations manager.
Following a honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple resides in Gardner, Kan.
