Veronica M. Angstrom, 61, of Shelbina, went by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries suffered in a one-car accident at 3:45 p.m. Friday, March 26, in rural Shelby County. She had been wearing a safety device.
Officers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Macon reported Angstrom was driving an eastbound 2002 Ford Focus on U.S. 36 two miles west of Hunnewell, when it went off the right side of the road.
She overcorrected, and the car went off the left side of the highway and hit an embankment. It continued onto the unopen lanes of U.S. 36 before returning to the main roadway, stopping partially in the eastbound lanes.
